Two Delicious Whiskey Drinks for Island Time Radio

Everyone knows I love bourbon. Here are two delicious drink recipes off the beaten path of “Jim Beam Up”.

Whiskey Sangaree
Like Sangria, the name of this cocktail is derived from the Spanish word for blood and was originally made with wine. Nowadays, it is usually mnade with a spirit base. Whatever is used, it is invariably flavored with fresh nutmeg.

6 cracked ice cubes
2 oz bourbon
1 oz simple syrup
soda water
1 tsp port
pinch of freshly grated nutmeg

Pour whiskey over cracked ice. Add simple syrup and top with soda water. Give a gentle stir and drop in a pinch of nutmeg.

Kentucky Orange Blossom
Shake 2 oz bourbon, 1 oz orange juice, and 1/2 oz triple sec with ice until frothy. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of orange.

Wings Over Flagler Warbird Fly-In

This fantastic event is coming up on March 26th-27th right here in Flagler County. In its second year, this show is put on my one of my customers. Bill “Pirate” Mills, a retired Navy pilot, runs Blue Sky Yakrobatics. Besides being a fine pilot, he also has great taste in rum and women (tip of the hat to Kimberly).
This will be a super show and a great family day opportunity. Advance tickets will be available beginning February 20 at $5 for adults, $3 for ages 13-17. Kids under 12 get in free (must be accompanied by an adult). The price is right peeps! As an added bonus, meet the pilots at the Golden Lion on Friday March 25th!

The Annual Wings Over Flagler Warbird Fly-In is a joint
effort between The Flagler County Airport and local
Warbird Enthusiast Bill Mills of Blue Sky Yakrobatics. The
idea for WOF started from a casual conversation, the
county’s desire to host an Airshow, and the passion of
Blue Sky Yakrobatics to bring aviation to a larger
audience. The success of our first event lead to the
development of Mills Aviation Charities, Inc. (MAC) a Non-
Profit Corporation dedicated to raising aviation
awareness, preserving aviation history, educating, and
providing less fortunate youth with the opportunity to
follow their aviation dreams. This is going to be a great
partnership for the community.

Pilots from all over the country enjoy a venue to share
their aircraft. Wings Over Flagler gives our community
the opportunity to come out and learn about the history
of the aircraft and meet the pilots that fly them. Each year
we will endeavor to make the Wings Over Flagler Event
one you won’t want to miss! *wingsoverflagler.com

Red Headed Woman

Well, brunettes are fine, man
Blondes are fun
But, when it comes to getting the dirty job done,
I’ll take a red-headed woman, a red-headed woman.
It takes a red-headed woman to get a dirty job done.

Well, listen up, stud,
Your life’s been wasted
’til you’ve got’ down on your knees and tasted
A red-headed woman, a red-headed woman.
It takes a red-headed woman to get a dirty job done.

Tight skirt, strawberry hair
Tell me what you’ve got, baby, waiting under there.
Big green eyes that look like, son,
They can see every cheap thing that you ever done.

Well, I don’t know how many girls you dated, man
You ain’t lived ’til you’ve had your tires rotated
By a red-headed woman, a red-headed woman.
It takes a red-headed woman to get a dirty job done.

Social Networking (In A Nutshell)

Was checking in on LinkedIn (which I really should do more often) and found what I consider to be the perfect one-line definition of social networking

Think of LinkedIn as your job, Facebook as a friend or family get-together, and Twitter as a bar or nightclub you frequent for happy hour.

I must admit, I have yet to find a real benefit to LinkedIn. I understand that “professionals” (e.g. business managers, doctors, teachers, professors) use it to interact and network with others in their respective fields while keeping their Family Feud game scores to friends and family. For me, the “purveyor of good times”, there really isn’t much boundary between work & play.

Which are you using more today?
