Besides the obvious making of drinks, taking care of guests, etc., here is a sampling of my bartending adventures over the weekend:
Thanks to Martin Mowrey for the Photos!
The Manhattan
The classic recipe, as interpreted by David Embury:
1 part Italian vermouth
5 parts bonded whiskey
1 dash Angostura bitters
Stir well over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a maraschino cherry garnish.
My recipe:
2 oz whiskey
3/4 oz sweet vermouth
Stir well over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass with a maraschino cherry garnish.
*Can also be strained over fresh rocks. Some customers ask for cherry juice. Some ask for bourbon. Some call their whiskey. My favorite Manhattan drinker, Ned, likes his on the rock with Canadian Club. *
Enjoy!
In the spirit of Reggae Vibez, here are the drinks that will be featured Saturday night during the three8six.com beach party!

Humble is not a word very often associated with me, but I have to admit I was a little surprised to see my face “above the fold” on the main page of three8six.com. Special kudos to Mrs. Tiki for taking the original photo.
Dust Brothers produced Paul’s Boutique hit stores on July 26, 1989. I was 17. I have to admit, I didn’t really like it. I LOVED License To Ill. *Spoiler Alert* My first concert, Summer of ’87, was the Beastie Boys & Run DMC Together Forever Tour. Paul’s Boutique, at first, didn’t appeal to me. The multi-act B-Boy Boullibaise was cool. I liked looking Down The Barrel Of A Gun better as recorded by Anthrax. In 1989 I was listening to a lot of Pink Floyd, Guns & Roses, & Queensryche. Could have been bad timing to fall in love with a new Beastie Boys album. In 1992, Check Your Head brought me back to the Beastie Boys fandom. It was then that I first appreciated Paul’s Boutique for the groundbreaking album it was (and is). As quoted from the Rolling Stone review below:
What anybody can appreciate: the long shadow this hip-hop masterpiece casts, from Beck to Girl Talk to mash-up culture and beyond.
The Beastie Boys have put together one of the “illest” music sites I have seen in some time to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of Paul’s Boutique. http://paulsboutique.beastieboys.com/
The important question is: Who wants to buy me the commemorative vinyl package?

ps I was serious about the vinyl!
