How Can I Tell You?

How Can I Tell You

How can I tell you
That I love you, I love you
But I can’t think of right words to say
I long to tell you that Im always thinking of you
That I’m always thinking of you
I’m always thinking of you
But my words just blow away
Just blow away
It always ends up to one thing, honey
And I can’t think of right words to say

Wherever I am, I’m always walking with you
I’m always walking with you
But I look and you’re not there
Whoever I’m with
I’m always talking to you
I’m always talking to you
And I’m sad that you can’t hear
Sad that you can’t hear
It always ends up to one thing, honey
When I look and you’re not there

I need to know you
Need to feel my arms around you
Feel my arms around you
Like a sea around a shore
And each night and day I pray
In hope that I might find you
In hope that I might find you
Because hearts can do no more
It always ends up to one thing honey
Still I kneel upon the floor

How can I tell you that I love you
I love you but I can’t think of right words to say
I long to tell you that I’m always thinking of you
I’m always thinking of you
It always ends up to one thing honey
And I can’t think of right words to say

Came across a Ben Taylor cover of this Cat Stevens tune and it smacked me in the face. Ben Taylor, for those that might not know, is the son of James Taylor and Carly Simon.

Rest In Peace George Carlin

Legendary comedian George Carlin died of heart failure Sunday at a California hospital.

Carlin was to be awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor later this year. He was the first host of “Saturday Night Live,” and last year he celebrated his 50th year in comedy. His influence can be heard in the routines of Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.

I always think about George Carlin when I fly because of his Airline Announcements bit (watch below). I always “plan my route” toward the emergency exit. I was cracking Sara up on the plane up to Newport News because they kept making announcements from “Captain Alec”. “Captain Alec has turned off the fasten seatbelt sign”. More bullshit from the bogus captain. LOL

Here is the airline announcements (in two parts)

Tell ’em how it is for eternity George!

Vacation Update

On our way back to the house from Roanoke Island. We watched a performance of “The Lost Village”, about an English settlement put forth by Sir Walter Raleigh. The symphonic play was first performed in 1937, naking it the oldest and longest performed in the US.

It was a good day, despite a slight hangover this morning. I had breakfast and, in the style of Peregrin Took, second breakfast. After waking Mrs. Tiki we headed over to the beach for a while. I stayed about 90 minutes before returning to the house. I set about to straighten our part of the house and clean up last nights poolside poker tournament. I then settled down to watch Star Wars Episode 4, a rare treat for me. After a liesurely afternoon, we made a dinner for the rest of the family. I chose at the ballpark as my theme. Hot dogs with chili, cheese, etc., super pretzels with brown mustard, Sara’s famous burnt baked beans, and bowls of peanuts in the shell on the table for snacking. It was great fun and well-received by all.

Aloha nui loa!!

Today’s Drink Recipe: Citron My Face

Citron My Face
1 oz AbsolutĀ® Citron
1 oz Grand MarnierĀ® orange liqueur
1 oz sour mix
1 oz SpriteĀ® lemon-lime soda

Stir in a mixing cup with ice and strain into a large shot glass. Another option is to build it over ice in a highball glass, filling with Sprite. Enjoy!

*I should add….I did a google image search to add a Citron graphic to the post. On the second page of the image search sits a photo of Amanda and her friends drinking Tight Snatches…the photo that is on my recipes page at tikitender.com! Well, I was impressed…*

Redrum! Redrum!

No, I am not talking about “The Shining”, but a tip of the hat to those who get the reference. I am talking about an actual rum. Redrum is a Virgin Islands rum infused with hints of coconut and mango. Now and then, when I find myself near a liquor store, I will spend $20-$25 on a bottle of liquor I have never tried. Redrum is a rum I have heard about, because it is made by the the same company that makes Voodoo Tiki rum ( a spiced rum), but I had never tried it.

Retailing at under $20, Redrum is a tasty rum. I tried it first with a couple of cubes of ice. I then tried it with some Rose’s cranberry infusion, which was really yummy. The coconut is not overbearing (which is why I don’t especially like Malibu) and it is fill strength rum (70 proof). *Hey Malibu drinkers…you do know you are paying call price for a weak rum right?* I really like the label stating” “100% Virgin Islands rum infused with natural flavors of mango, pineapple, coconut & berries. Mix with fruit juices, sodas, foo-foo drinks, or savor straight over ice. OPEN BEFORE DRINKING!”. Classic!!!

A couple of recipe suggestions, courtesy of the little tag attached to the neck of the bottle.

RedRum Punch

1 1/2 oz RedRum
2 oz pineapple juice
2 oz cranberry juice

Shake with ice and pour into your favorite glass.

Red Rocker

1 1/2 oz RedRum
5 oz of your favorite energy drink
Splash of cranberry

Build in a tall glass filled with ice.

Snoloha – The Drink

Snoloha
1 oz Malibu Coconut rum
1 oz creme de banana
3/4 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur
3/4 oz Bailey’s Irish cream
2 oz half & half
3/4 oz strawberry puree

Prepare a hurricane or pint glass by pouring the strawberry puree into the bottom. Fill a blender with about 3/4 of a cocktail shaker of ice. Add all other ingredients and blend until smooth and frothy. Pour into the hurricane glass. You will notice the strawberry puree is “pulled” up and into the drink, creating a cool effect. Top with whipped cream and a cherry or two.
