Last weekend I headed to Texas with Superbroad to check out the Texas Frightmare Weekend movie festival & convention. Texas Frightmare Weekend is a horror movie convention. Horror movies are really Christa’s jam, but I am a general movie-buff so I was also super stoked to meet the guests and enjoy the general weirdness. Read on for some photos and commentary.
After an early start filled with mishaps, we landed in Dallas and arrived out our hotel. We were early so had some time to kill. The last time I had a Shiner Bock in Texas was Spring Break 1993! Continuing the gastro-fun, we headed across the street for our first ever Whataburger. This place is a Texas fixture and did NOT disappoint!
We took a few minutes to chill, then headed over to the convention hotel. This was the 14th Texas Frightmare Weekend and it was immediately obvious even to first-timers that the event is started to outgrow the Hyatt Regency DFW. As Floridians and theme-park visitors, we didn’t mind the lines so much. But the sheer number of people essentially hanging out in the basement of the hotel was shocking. Of course, the best part of waiting in line was checking out the costumes!
We had a great time people-watching and meeting some movie icons over the weekend!

The great Traci Lords

Joe Bob Briggs of Monster Vision & The Last Drive-In. He even had a funny anecdote about Daytona Beach!

The Legendary Tim Curry

Quick Selfie with Tom Savini. He is known for his makeup & special effects work on such films as Dawn Of The Dead, Creepshow, Friday the 13th, and more!

Felissa Rose, most well known as Angela in Sleepaway Camp!

Amanda Wyss from Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Better Off Dead, and Nightmare on Elm Street.

Ahhhhh! Barbara Crampton from Re-Animator!

We were absolutely giddy to meet Heather Langenkamp and Robert Englund from Nightmare On Elm Street!
We were such nerdy first-timers, but had a great time. Lots of merch, autographs, Whataburger, and photos. 10/10 would do again!
