Two Good Days Off In A Row

Now this is getting scary 😉

Mrs. Tiki had a dentist appointment in Daytona today so left work at noon. I am happy I went along!!! Let me jsut say I made a total pig of myself all day long, so if you see me walking to work on Thursday it’s not because the Tiki-Mobile broke down!

After the very brief dentist appointment, we commenced to do two of our favorite things: shopping and eating! I wanted to look for some new shoes for work. I wear all black Skecher slip resistant sneaks when I work. I used to wear canvas vans, but once I got used to not sliding around every time I hit the tile I could never go back. Anyway, when I am nearby I always stop in to Shoe Carnival in Daytona, because they occasionally have them on sale. UGH! The ones I like are $65 a pair now. I blame the French. I was a little bummed, because mine are getting worn, but damn that’s alot of cash. So, I bought some new insoles for $15 and cleaned up my old shoes when I got home. Sara was looking too, but we decided it just wasn’t a good time to by shoes…

We went to Old Navy next, which is always fun. Saw my friend Amanda at the checkout, and ran into Carrie White (of Carrie’s Undercurrent). Sweet!!!!

Carrie & me getting our drink on at Mother’s; Fall 2006

With Amanda when she was here on Spring Break in 2007

Also got a pair of kick ass jeans and a couple of ringer-tees.

Next we stopped in at Lane Bryant for some under-items for Mrs. Tiki. I love Lane Bryant because, well, I love curvy women and they usually hang out there. It can get a little uncomfy in there though because the only chairs they have sit right in front of the changing room so when the women come out from trying on clothes, there I am just sitting and looking . LOL!!!

Did I mention we went to one of our fave restaurants? Daytona Ale House…yummy!!!!!!

p.s. I have to admit, Sara beat me in a game of nine-ball. boooooooo!!!!!!

We came home, Sara went to the gym. I drank vodka gimlets and we watched American Idol. Farewell Carly, I will miss you!!!!!

Free Is Good – Earth Day 2008 : Yahoo! Green

Free Is Good – Earth Day 2008 : Yahoo! Green

A couple days late, but check out the reuse groups. I love freecycle, but they all have the same concept. Put the stuff you don’t need back to work in someone else’s hands, rather that send it to the landfill….

A Terrific Day Off!!!

I had such a great Tuesday off!!!! Life is truly good…

  • Daytona Cubs: Went to watch the Daytona Cubs play at 10:30 this morning with Jason. Jason hadn’t been to a baseball game in a long long time and he loved it! We bought box seats. Front row, about 10 feet from the on deck circle and about 20 feet from home plate. I knew I had made someone’s day when Jason started calling family and friends during the game to tell them how much he enjoyed it. It was field trip day so the place was loaded with grade school kids (including a group from Sara’s school), but that only added to the noise and excitement. I also fell temporarily in love with a pony-tailed redhead wearing a mini skirt, wife beater, and a backwards Chicago Cubs cap. “How you doin?” Sadly, the Cubs were not in love with the ball. They committed 4 errors and lost 2-1.
  • Caribbean Jack’s: We stopped after the game for a quick round of drinks at Caribbean Jack’s, located at the Loggerhead Club & Marina. Tasty drinks at the open air bar overlooking the marina and pooldeck. While there, a semi-regular from the Lion walked in. Small World!
  • Fisherman’s Net: After a drive of Scenic A1A, we found ourselves sitting across the bar from John at Fisherman’s Net in Flagler Beach. After some tasty cheesburgers, we decided to end that portion of the day.
  • Flagler Beach: When we were pulling into Flagler Beach, the last thing Jason said to me was “I haven’t seen Nikki (a bartender from Finnegan’s) at the beach in a while. At that moment, she drove up next to us. Crazy! So before he took me home, we walked over to the beach to check out her bikini (well worth the walk by the way). While we were there we saw Julio, the GM of the Golden Lion, with his wife. Small world!!
  • Back home for me: Sara and I arrived home just moments apart from each other and almost instantly fell into naps. We woke up a couple hours later. After violating the 5-minute rule, we set into a pretty good night. I worked a crossword. We watched American Idol & SVU, she chatted online, and I brushed and trimmed Marley’s coat. Then I walked Marley a couple of times and did the drink specials for the Golden Lion.

Now that is a day off!!!

Random Lyric

Brokedown Palace
by The Grateful Dead

Fare you well my honey
Fare you well my only true one
All the birds that were singing
Have flown except you alone

Goin to leave this Broke-down Palace
On my hands and my knees I will roll roll roll
Make myself a bed by the waterside
In my time – in my time – I will roll roll roll

In a bed, in a bed
by the waterside I will lay my head
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul

River gonna take me
Sing me sweet and sleepy
Sing me sweet and sleepy
all the way back home
It’s a far gone lullaby
sung many years ago
Mama, Mama, many worlds I’ve come
since I first left home

Goin home, goin home
by the waterside I will rest my bones
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul

Goin to plant a weeping willow
On the banks green edge it will grow grow grow
Sing a lullaby beside the water
Lovers come and go – the river roll roll roll

Fare you well, fare you well
I love you more than words can tell
Listen to the river sing sweet songs
to rock my soul

Happy Earthday: Put Some Green In Your Pocket

12 proven ways to improve your gas mileage

  1. Keep your engine tuned up. Incorrect fuel ratio, bad spark plugs and incorrect spark timing can have a big effect on gas mileage.

  2. Don’t use your air conditioner (A/C) unless you really need it. The A/C compressor puts an extra strain on the engine.

  3. Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under inflated tires cause more resistance to travel.

  4. Avoid stop and go traffic by taking alternative routes or less congested travel times.

  5. Ask other people with the same type of car what kind of gas mileage they get, it may alert you to a problem with your car.

  6. Use a good engine oil, preferably a synthetic or standard oil treated with a friction reducing oil additive. These have been known to improve fuel economy by as much as 12%.

  7. Reduce the weight in your vehicle as much as possible. (Good excuse to get the mother-in-law out of the car….)

  8. Use your cruise control whenever possible.

  9. Keeping your highway speed at 55 mph can improve you gas mileage by as much as 25%, compared to 75 mph. (I personally have pledged to set the cruise control at 65 on the interstate. You should see the looks I get.) As a rule of thumb, you can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.20 per gallon for gas. Observing the speed limit is also safer.

  10. Avoid trying to increase speed while climbing a hill, your engine is already working hard trying to overcome gravity.

  11. Keep your windows closed when possible. Open windows actually reduce gas mileage compared to using the A/C.

  12. Remove accessories, such as luggage rack, etc. that lower the aerodynamics of your vehicle.

Cubs do as Lou says, get off to fast start — chicagotribune.com

Cubs’ manager Lou Piniella sermonized all spring about the importance of getting off to a good start.

Does an 11-6 record—which includes Sunday’s 13-1 pasting of the Pirates and victories in 10 of the last 13 games—qualify?

A lyric that could be about me!

“I used to wear a three piece suit and wing tip shoes

I’d watch CNN and catch up on all the news

I don’t do that anymore, and my life is so complete

I traded in those leather shows for these flip-flops on my feet.”

One problem solved, maybe. The second is still a work in progress.

Rich Hill became the first Cubs left-hander to win a game this season…
